Using the Subtle Solutions Alternator Cover is a breeze. First, make sure to remove the rubber bushing on the Subaru OEM STI Power Steering Belt Cover Bracket before installing the hardware that comes with the alternator cover. You can buy the bracket separately if your vehicle requires it. For installation, pass the tall spacer (or standoff) with the bolt and washer through the stock Subaru oem bracket attached to the passenger - side power steering pump. Then, install the shorter spacer and hardware with the clip nut on the alternator (driver side) using the Subaru OEM STI bracket. As for maintenance, since the cover has a powder - coated finish and is made of 304 stainless steel, it's quite durable. However, it's a good idea to periodically check the installation hardware to make sure it's tight. Also, keep the cover clean by wiping it down with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
