Product Information

Part #: SUB - 37230FE160. The clutch master cylinder, located on the engine bay firewall, usually sits next to the brake master cylinder as the pedals are close. It hydraulically transfers clutch pedal pressure to the slave cylinder to release the clutch. Notice if your clutch pedal sinks slowly and doesn't return, it may need repair. This hydraulic system has a fluid reservoir. It's smart to replace the clutch slave cylinder when changing the master cylinder as they often fail together. When replacing either cylinder, flush the system to avoid water or air issues. Keep an eye on the reservoir fluid; dirty fluid might mean seal problems. This part is for manual transmission vehicles only. Subaru of America warranties parts installed by a certified Subaru dealership with a matching VIN. Part Number: 37230FE160.

Using this Subaru clutch master cylinder is straightforward. Just make sure it's installed in a manual transmission vehicle. When you press the clutch pedal, the master cylinder transfers pressure to the slave cylinder to release the clutch. If you notice the pedal sinking slowly to the floor and not coming back, it's time to check the master cylinder. When replacing it, it's a good idea to also replace the clutch slave cylinder as they usually wear out around the same time. After installation, flush the entire system to get rid of any water or air pockets. Keep an eye on the fluid in the reservoir. If it looks dirty, there might be a problem with the internal seals. Remember, Subaru only warranties parts installed by a certified dealership with a matching VIN.
