Product Information

ACL's main bearings are crafted from a softer metal to protect your crank and engine block from wear. A thin oil layer lubricates the bearing - crank connection, enabling the crank to 'float' and minimize wear. Proper main - bearing support is essential to prevent oscillations and damage to the crankshaft and other components when the motor gets out of balance. Bearings with extra oil clearance can handle the stress of high - horsepower motors better but may experience more wear during startup. We suggest these be bought only by experienced professionals. Note that Subaru main bearings are specific to either #5 or #3 journal bearing positions. This position isn't related to VIN or year and must be known before purchase. Engine internals aren't eligible for exchange or return, so make sure you pick the right bearings.

Using these ACL main bearings is straightforward. First, make sure you know whether you need the #5 or #3 journal bearing position for your Subaru engine. Once you've installed the bearings, they'll work to protect your crank and engine block from wear. Just start your engine as usual, and the thin oil layer will lubricate the connection between the bearings and the crank. However, keep in mind that if you have bearings with extra oil clearance, they'll be better at handling high - horsepower motors. But during startup, they may wear out a bit faster. Only experienced professionals should buy these types of bearings. Maintenance is simple. Regularly check your engine oil levels and change the oil as recommended. This will keep the bearings lubricated and in good condition. And remember, since engine internals aren't returnable, double - check what you need before you buy.
