Product Information

Part #: SUB - 37230FE160. The Clutch Master Cylinder is in the engine bay on the firewall, near the brake master cylinder as the pedals are close. It transfers clutch pedal pressure hydraulically to release the clutch. If the pedal sinks and doesn't return, the cylinder may need repair. It has a fluid reservoir for the hydraulic system. When changing the master cylinder, it's smart to get a slave cylinder too as they often fail together. Flush the system when replacing either cylinder to avoid water or air issues. Keep an eye on the reservoir fluid; dirty fluid may mean seal problems. This part is for manual - transmission vehicles only. Subaru of America only warrants parts installed by a CERTIFIED Subaru Dealership with a matching VIN. Use your best judgment when installing parts.

Using this clutch master cylinder is simple. It's designed to work with your Subaru's manual transmission. When you press the clutch pedal, it sends pressure through the hydraulic system to release the clutch. But watch out! If the pedal sinks to the floor and doesn't come back up, it might be time to repair or replace the cylinder. When you decide to change the master cylinder, it's a good idea to get a new slave cylinder at the same time because they usually wear out around the same period. Also, whenever you replace either the master or slave cylinder, make sure to flush the whole system. This helps prevent water from building up and air pockets from forming, which could cause problems when you're driving. And don't forget to regularly check the fluid in the reservoir. If the fluid looks dirty, it could mean that the internal seals are letting dirt and other bad stuff into the master cylinder. Remember, Subaru only gives a warranty for parts installed by a certified dealership with a matching VIN.
