Using this Red Line Oil Subaru engine maintenance kit is a breeze. First, make sure your Subaru engine is cool. Find the oil drain plug under the engine and place a drain pan beneath it. Remove the drain plug and let the old oil drain out completely. Replace the old drain plug gasket with the new one from the kit and reinstall the drain plug. Next, locate the oil filter. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old filter. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new Subaru OEM oil filter and screw it on. Finally, pour the five quarts of Red Line 5W30 motor oil into the engine through the oil filler cap. Check the oil level using the dipstick and ensure it's within the proper range. As for maintenance, always follow your Subaru's recommended oil change intervals. Store the unused oil in a cool, dry place. If you notice any oil leaks after the change, double - check the drain plug and oil filter for proper installation.
